Status of the Simulation and Event Generator RunII joint project. 1/10/98

1)C++ version of STDHEP: Research into the design considerations have been performed. This project is expected to have three more phases:
a) Requirements documentation to be delivered 1/19/98
b) Design phase
c) Implementation phase

The Requirements document and the design diagrams will be made available for a short comment period.

It is estimated that this project will take 3 work-months to complete. It is estimated that Lynn Garren can work on this project 1/2 time leading to a completion around June 1999.

2)QQ is in kits, but not the latest version. This is not thought to be a large project, but is low on the priority list.

3)MCFast--the tracing and calorimeter have been rewritten in C++ and the Kalman fitter is releases for forward type geomtries. This version is available as a development product. The Kalman fitter in the central region will be
completed within a month. We expect to enter a support and maintainance phase in 3 months time.

4)Geant3--CDF and D0 are using Geant3 for simulation. These efforts have not involved support from the joint project as yet

5)Geant4--CDF and D0 are focussing on the Geant3 and fast simulations for the time being. Over the course of time, as Geant4 matures, they are interested in evaluations and comparisons of Geant4 with Geant3 for benchmarking and
Geant4 with data for verification.
