Tools and Configuration Management -- Ruth Pordes reported on various tools, compilers and projects in this area.

• There has been much discussion about how to get gdb and other debuggers to work well with the Kai compiler.Mike Mullin of Cygnus has apparently done something with egg and gdb?
• There are ongoing discussion about Oracle network licencing
• The purchase order for Open Inventor is about to be cut

ZOOM -- Mark Fischler gave a report on ZOOM software releases

SAM -- Lee Lueking gave a summary of the work being done in the Data Access joint working group which is assuming a Sequential Files access method for data.He used materials which are posted on the SAM home page. This included brief summaries of various explanatory texts or 'stories' which are being developed in conjunction with an overall system dataflow diagram

HPSS -- Don Petravick reminded everyone that an internal review of HPSS status, with presentations by the HPPC department, is scheduled for Monday March 30 at 9.0 am in FCC2a

LCB meeting in Barcelona -- Irwin Gaines reported on the LHCC Computing Board meeting which he attended in Barcelona. The words coming out of this are general issues like:

• common vocabulary needed
• must do more sharing - of code? of ideas?
• need technical forums on specific issues
• more "risk analysis" needed
• further learning from experience is needed
