Joint CDF/D0/CD Run II Computing Meeting of
March 3, 1998
Tools and Configuration Management -- Ruth Pordes - reported
on the status of the Kai compiler and in particular communications with respect to debuggers
PASFRG -- Irwin Gaines - gave the status of the work of the Physics Analysis Software Functional Requirements group.
- Currently fleshing out the Requirements list
- Looking at the status of all existing products, analysing what they have to offer and using that flesh out the Requirements list
- Has been discussion and disagreement on the issue of whether "code" which is developed in the context of an analysis tool should be then immediately transportable, as is, to reconstruction code
- Also some discussion on scaleability - where do existing products break down? Is the total amount of data in Run II a relevant parameter, or will in fact analysis data samples in the end be approximately the same size as in the past?
A 2nd track which the group is on is to break into sub-groups and each investigate different products or classes of products. The sub-groups and their lead people are:
- PAW - John Marrafino
- ROOT - Pasha Murat
- LHC++ - John Marrafino,Irwin Gaines
- Nirvana - Paul LeBrun
- PC tools - Pushpa Bhat
- Commercial tools - need a volunteer
- Shareware - Eileen Berman
- There are a lot of opinions and a lot of anecdotal factors of where one product fails to do the job. Nothing concrete yet - needs more work
- Irwin is looking for volunteers to write Requirements
