Run II CDF/D0/CD Joint Computing Project Meeting of January 6, 1998

The meeting discussed a proposed template for one-page descriptions of projects, within the Joint CDF/CD/D0 Joint Computing Project. The collection of one-page descriptions forms a dictionary for what are essentially the WBS elements of the project, with some additional information along the lines of the 'one-page per project' proposed by the Von Ruden Review.

We looked at a couple of examples of using this template - using the existing active projects ZOOM and RIP and extracted information from the definitions and charges for these projects.

We went over the 9 highest level WBS elements of the joint project and refined their names, discussed their scope and focus, and identified people who should be asked to participate in writing the one-page definition for that particular WBS element. Clearly, many of the highest level WBS project areas break down into lower level projects which will, in time, each have their own one-page dictionary entry.

The focus at present is just on the Title, Element Definition and Scope and Deliverables Section, with the other informational data on the WBS element/project to be filled in later.

The current WBS list, along with the people identified to be asked to help draw up the one-page is listed below and consists of high level WBS elements for ZOOM, RIP, Configuration Management, Visualization, Analysis Tools, Simulation, Storage Management and Access, Production Management and Supporting Databases. Other WBS elements may still be needed - some people wanted The Serial Media Working Group as a WBS. Major Procurements are to be handled as separate WBS elements
